General mission(s)/purpose

Independently carry out one or more rectification phases of a production order in compliance with procedures.

Reporting to the workshop manager.

Description of activities

Analyze the manufacturing file in its entirety.

Read and understand drawings.

Read and understand machining routines.

Draw up and adapt machine settings for machining in compliance with the plan.

Perform visual and dimensional self-inspection on each part.

Grinders are responsible for the quality and conformity of the operations they perform.

Maintain the workstation in good condition and carry out first-level maintenance (machine, desk, cabinet, computer).

Line responsibility/animation project(s)

The job is under the responsibility of the workshop manager.

Cooperate with the coordinator and workshop manager.

The grinder has no supervisory responsibilities.

Internal/external working relationships

Internal contacts (daily interaction):

> Workshop manager: passing on instructions, requesting information.

> Coordinator: technical support, distribution of production orders.

> Inspector: setting up and checking checking fixtures, spot checking of parts.

> Co-worker: start-of-production checks, passing on instructions to the pair.

> Maintenance manager: service request.

Experienced grinders may be required to train a new employee on the job.

Specific professional knowledge

> In-depth reading and analysis of mechanical parts drawings.

> Advanced ISO and/or conversational programming.

> Knowledge of different ways of gripping parts.

> In-depth knowledge of different tooling (to choose the most suitable for the operations to be carried out).

> Use of inspection equipment (micrometer, measuring column, profile projector).

> Trigonometry.

No specific diploma is required, but significant machining experience is necessary.
